Vayavya Labs is an Electronic System Level tools provider. The company is working on its patent pending idea of providing a higher level of specification abstractions to architects, designers and programmers in the semiconductor domain so that some of the activities like central repository for IC (Integrated Circuit) details, documents, verification test cases and low level software development can be automated using the tool. This in turn will help companies to save time on bringing a product to market. Designers/Engineers will benefit from spending more time on design specifications rather than implementation related details.
Vayavya's other business unit focuses on the niche segment of Embedded Services. The landscape of technology business has been changing rapidly to meet the demands of business need, high end jobs move closer to the talent pool and the markets they are deployed in. Vayavya team helps customers in the domain of consumer electronics and communications by setting Off-shore Development Centers and dedicated engineering teams for product development. Some of the services provided by the teams are: middleware and application development for DTV, STB, device driver development, OS porting, protocol stacks development etc.

Top two reasons to mentions are:
1. The Flagship product "DDGen" of the company has that 'WoW' factor: The main goal of automation of repetitive tasks is to improve the productivity. There is a side effect to this which is much more compelling than the main objective itself - being able to work at higher level of abstraction. If we take a close look at the assembly language programming life cycle, we realise that we are spending most of time in implementation domain where we are converting the algorithm into assembly language program and debugging it. That's where the high level languages like 'C' changed life by making it very easy to convert an algorithm into a program and made it easy to debug as well. Over time we reached saturation in terms of productivity improvement in this domain. Whereas the focus of DDGen tool from Vayavya labs is in the conceptualization and architectural level abstraction. In a given project, value addition happens at the early stages and it diminishes as we go down to the later stages. This tools exactly helps to think at architectural level and capture the architecture of the system and generates code automatically.
Again the same concept has been extended to system level where once the architecture gets captured by the tool, tool can generate, verification scripts and device drivers. The end goal is to be able to generate system model as well automatically.
Device driver generation has been a research topic till now and for the first time an Indian company has been trying to break that myth by rolling a commercially viable product. This product and few other on their road map are likely to set a stage for a new market segment.
2. It is common to see that a high-tech start-up generally gathers momentum in US or some research triangle parks and then span its presence in places like India and China to firm up on engineering delivery. However Vayavya is trying to break that mould by setting up a development center from a tier-II city and reaching to other parts of world.

| What keeps the team awake at night? |
The fact that we are starting a new market segment there will be an uphill task of selling and getting a buy-in from engineering, management levels.
Setting up a technology start up in Tier-II city and attracting talent and selling a long term dream/vision requires the tremendous effort from every one in the team. |
